Join the Union Parish Library on October 3, as they kick off Family History Month with a special guest speaker, Jon R. McKinnie who will share his family history in Union Parish as well as some of the tricks of the trade for discovering family history.

Jon writes in several blogs and recently wrote an article about the history of Alabama Landing among other articles related to Union Parish History. (daysgoneby.me/alabama-louisiana/)

Jon R. McKinnie, CTLC is Chief of Staff, Rotary District 5890 for 2010-2014 , League City, Texas. He has chased family genealogy for over 30 years, with over 3,000 family members. Jon’s family migrated from Dallas County, Alabama in 1840s. They were Grumbles, McKinnie & Day families plus their extended families. They migrated to North Louisiana & South Arkansas.

Jon has written articles for the Farmerville Louisiana Gazette for the past couple years. He is always interested in connecting with related families. Jon enjoys writing and spending time with his wife, Phyllis Richardson Hall, two children and four grandchildren.
