Tuesday afternoon of last week a negro named Gilbert Bass, who was working on Mr. Jas. A. Taylor’s farm, near town, was struck by a falling tree, receiving injuries from which he died a few hours thereafter. His daughter and the mule Gilbert had been plowing were also hit by the limbs. Mr. Taylor says the girl is seriously hurt and may die. At the time of the accident both darkies were moving rock away, preparatory to running the plow.
