The newly appointed mayor and aldermen for the town of Farmerville qualified Monday. The election tickets failed to arrive in time to hold an election, and so a petition was forwarded to Gov. Foster asking that the members of the old board be appointed to fill their respective positions, which was down. The town officers are: W. P. Chandler, mayor; R Haas, C. H. Jameson, D. Stein and W. J. Turnage, alderman. The old board deserve credit for their economical and satisfactory managements of the corporation’s affairs during the past year. By doing away with a town marshal, which has been for many years a useless officer, the city was saved about $400, and in consequence the corporation debt is very materially decreased. Another year of such management will put the town out of debt.
