Off to the Pen

The Gazette
November 30, 1898

Union Parish made three additions to the James gang this week. They are Columbus Straughter, Wiley Bragg and Harry Dumas. The two former are under life sentences for complicity in the murder of Constable Ferguson in 1887, and the latter was given a three years sentence for crime against nature. The prisoners left our jail Saturday morning, in charge of Messrs. John Taylor, Ruffin Pleasant and Karl Pleasant.
