The Gazette
June 14, 1899

Mr. S. A. Futch informs us that a white man named Normand Porter was drowned Saturday in the Loutre, near Cherry Ridge. Porter was fishing and being subject to attacks of fits, it is supposed that he fell into the stream while he had one of these spells. He was about 35 years of age; was married, but he and his wife had separated.
