Murphy for Sheriff

The Gazette
August 30, 1899

In this issue of The Gazette Mr. C. H. Murphy publishes a card, announcing his candidacy for sheriff, subject to the action of the Democratic party. Mr. Murphy is a young man, a native of Union Parish, full of energy and push. He is at present parish assessor, and has filled that position in a careful and business-like manner. Affable, courteous and accommodating, and always mindful of business duties. Mr. Murphy is well qualified to make an efficient sheriff. In case he is honored with the position, Mr. Murphy frankly states who his deputy will be – Mr. J. W. Taylor. Mr. Taylor has served in that capacity for the past two terms, and it is needless to say that he fills the bill admirably.
