Mr. Couch has been appointed postmaster at Bernice. He has executed his bond, and the document has been forwarded to the post office department at Washington for approval. Bernice has for several months stood in need of proper mail facilities, but she is on the road to get them soon. She ought now to get a daily mail route from Farmerville. If this line were established the Cherry Ridge, Spearsville and Junction City mails could be sent to Bernice and then transferred across the country on horseback, thus giving those points better mail communication with the parish site and at the same time costing the government less money.
