Rev. T. N. Rhymes filled his appointment at this place to-day.

The many friends of Mr. Jim Tidwell were glad to see him home again this week.

We are glad to see Mr. J. A. Hale, who has been absent some time back again.

Miss Janie Hamilton, one of Downsville’s brightest young ladies, made a short visit home this week.

Thanksgiving of “99” will not be forgotten by our school boys and girls. By 10 o’clock a.m. the M. E. church, which was beautifully decorated with evergreen’s was almost filled with bright trees.

The societies – the Franklin, the Alphi Mu Chi. united in the exercises of Nov. 30.


Dr. Monroe Henry spent a few days with his sister, Miss Alice, this week.

Miss Emily Staples left last Sunday for Mosely’s Bluff, where she opened a school Monday.

Mr. G. W. Vaughan returned home Sunday after an extended visit among relatives at Homer and other places.

Mr. Jess Roberts has been quite sick for the last day or town.
