Small Pox

The Gazette
January 24, 1900

It is reported that Mr. Yancy Patterson, of D’Arbonne vicinity has a case of small pox. He recently returned from a hospital at New Orleans, where it is supposed he caught the disease.

We suppose it is this case of Prof. Staples, of Downsville, writes the following:

“Three miles north of here is a case of small pox, but we are fast having every one in our community vaccinated. Only two have been exposed, they have been vaccinated and will be isolated before the time arrives for them to take the disease. We are going on with our school, but have made vaccination compulsory upon all pupils and teachers. We apprehend no further trouble.”
