The Gazette
June 28, 1899
We are having some rain in this section now, after a dry spell of four weeks. This has been a tough year for the farmers to manage a crop, though with the late start they had, and occasional sickness, they have done very well, being favored with a dry spring. More interest is being manifested among our people in the direction of home products. Hog and hominy has become the motto with us all. Our people should pay more attention to the important question of raising the greater part of their living at home; and should get the country interested. We don’t need either a stock law or no-fence law to do this, if we will think on it closely.
The rumor has gone out that Rev. B. F. Tubb has quit preaching. That is not so. He is preaching every Saturday and Sunday. He has no thought of quitting that all important and much needed business; and this method is sought to correct the mistake.
