The Knights of Pythias gave a public entertainment at their hall in Farmerville last Wednesday evening. The exercises consisted of able addresses by several of our distinguished citizens. The presiding officer, Mr. Jacob Haas, first introduced Mr. Rudolph Haas, who enlightened the audience of “The Endowment Fund of the K. of P.” Dr. C. H. Jameson followed him and in his inimitable style entertained his hearers on “The Good of the Order.” Mr. J. R. Simmons was the last speaker. He presented some fine thoughts on that old but never failing subject of interest to the young, “Love.”
Delightful refreshments consisting of fruit and cake were served, and the audience at once became an informal social gathering.
By request, Miss Ellen Haas recited a selection from Uncle Remus which was very much enjoyed. Then Mr. W. D. Munholland entertained the crowd with several interesting jokes.
The crowd dispersed in high good humor, each person hoping that the Pythians would entertain again in the near future.
