Horrible Deed

An Alexandria, La., special to the Shreveport Times, dated Jan. 6, says: “A very deplorable affair occurred yesterday about 12 am, near Forest Hill, a small station situated about fifteen miles below here, on the Watkins road, in this parish. Two little children were murdered by being knocked in the back of the head. One was an infant of about 14 days and the other was about one year and 6 months old, and to add to the horror of the terrible affair, the father and mother of the murdered children are under arrest, charged with the awful deed.”

“Their names are Keiner and they lived about one and one-half miles from Forest Hill. They charge each other with the killing. Mrs. Keiner states that Keiner, as he was going out of the house about 12 o’clock, told her that the two children were asleep and she went in and found them both dead with the back of their skulls crushed in. The woman’s mind is not considered well balanced and the man is about as bad. Coroner Rushing went down on a local freight this morning to the scene, to hold an inquest, which will possibly clear up the awful affair.”
