During the past few weeks we have noticed several boys about town shooting little birds, just for pastime. This occurs to us as very poor sport. It is one of cruelty and hard-heartedness, and parents should not permit that habit to grow in their children. It is all right to kill birds or game for purpose of eating, or if they are destroying crops or gardens. But it is all wrong to slay them just for the sake of killing them. Besides it is against the law to kill a number of birds at any time during the year, and boys who wantonly shoot all kinds of birds might get themselves in trouble.
