What has happened to time? I can’t believe it is the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays again. I have been writing articles for about two years for “The Banner”. Mostly it has been about “How Things Used to Be”. I suppose our mind is our computer. Things are stored in it that we do not even know they are there until something is said of done that brings those memories back to us. It is amazing how much we can remember and isn’t it amazing the things we remember are the most pleasant time of our lives. And some of the things we remember are in the minute details. I could never understand why older people seemed to remember the past better than the things of today. NOW – I UNDERSTAND. My friends and my children keep telling me to continue remembering and writing it down. 92 years seem like a long time but when I look back over my lifetime – it s such a short time. I often wonder if people my age feel the same way. I have written about Thanksgiving and Christmases past for 2 years, so I won’t bore you with repeating some of my memories. I’m not sure how the Holidays are going to work out this year since our immediate family circle is broken, but the days will be here soon and we all have a lot to be thankful for. We just celebrated Veteran’s Day – we live in a free country and we can celebrate our holidays almost as we please. Some are trying to take “Christ” out of Christmas but I don’t think it will ever happen. Anyway, The Banner will be having a lot of advertisements and Christmas news, so I’m going to take a break for a while and see if I can still recall some of the interesting happenings of yesteryear. But I hope all of you and your families have a wonderful Thanksgiving, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! God bless all of you.
