My Grandfather’s brother Levi Jefferson Cole

Levi Jefferson Cole was the oldest child of Robert Richard Cole and Martha Ann Rebecca Smith Cole. On 29 July 1891, Levi was born in Huttig, Union County, Arkansas. He was named after his Grandfather Levi Jefferson Cole (b. ca. 1832 in NC d. before 1 June 1880 probably in Bastrop, Morehouse Parish, LA). On 12 February 1921, Levi Jefferson Cole and Clara Lee Joiner were married by Alfred Worthington in Union County, Arkansas. This marriage was recorded in Book Y on page 202 of Union County Marriage Records. Clara was from Bolding, Union County, AR. On 29 November 1904, Clara Lee Joiner was born in Union County, AR, and in August 1975, she died in Sheridan, Grant County, Arkansas. Levi was a small timber contractor, and Levi farmed when he did not have timber to cut. The children of Levi and Clara were Levi “L.D.” Duncan, Clayton Murphy and Mildred Haseltine Cole. Levi lived all of his life in Union County, AR except for about the last year of his life. On 6 April 1931, Levi died in Montrose, Ashley County, AR. He was buried at Harper Springs Cemetery in Union County, AR.
