My Great Grandfather Robert Richard Cole (on the left)

Robert Richard Cole was the son of Levi Jefferson Cole and Emily “Emma” Finch Cole. On 4 December 1867, Robert Richard Cole was born in Bastrop, Morehouse Parish, LA. Robert was raised in Bastrop, LA. Robert’s father was a carpenter, and his father died before 1 June 1880. On 15 October 1890, Robert Richard Cole and Martha Ann Rebecca Smith were married in Union County, AR. Robert was a pioneer citizen of Huttig, Union County, AR. Robert and Martha owned a farm about three miles west of Huttig, AR. The farm was located in Lapile Township, Union County, AR. Robert owned well digging equipment that he used to dig wells in Union County, AR. Robert built bridges for Union County, AR, and he also made state roads in the Union County area. Robert and his sons were also in the timber business. Robert and Martha were members of Harper Springs Baptist Church in Huttig, AR, and Robert was a church deacon. He was a member of the Masonic Rowland Lodge, No. 594, F. & A.M. of Huttig, AR. Robert was a 32nd degree Mason. On the evening of 23 October 1942, Robert died at the family home in Huttig, AR. On 25 Oct. 1942, funeral services were held for Robert at Harper Springs Baptist Church. He was buried at Harper Spring Cemetery.
