My Two Bits Worth on Healthcare

Written By Galen White

Odds are, if I called you a pencil-necked, thick-skulled, hair-brained goofball, you would probably call me something worse. And things would only grow worse from there. Of course, there’s always the possibility that you might just cross my eyes with a strong right hook, too. Again, things would only grow worse from that point.

If you saw a Claiborne Parish Deputy, Louisiana State Trooper, or Homer Police Officer stopping me for speeding but didn’t receive a ticket, then it would only be natural for you to expect the same treatment if you were the one getting stopped. Now, I sure hope any of the aforementioned law enforcement departments don’t take that as an open invitation on my part. It is certainly not in my plans to be speeding.

The point in both cases is this: what’s fair for the goose is fair for the gander, right? Everyone wants to be treated equally, and I can’t blame ’em.

Here’s my question: Why does Congress expect us to accept health care change but refuses to accept the same for themselves?

Seems to me if they are truly concerned with our best interest, they would be willing to prove it by accepting the same coverage for themselves and their families. To me, there would be nothing that could have more impact and weight than that. I’m also willing to bet there would be a whole lotta folks that would go along with it.

For some strange and unexplained reason <snicker>, I have this feeling such ain’t gonna happen. Until it does, I will be against the current offers coming out of Washington. Of course, that’s just my two bits worth, folks.
