The woods are on fire in this community and people are being suffocated and blinded by smoke.
Prof Roy, of the D’Arbonne school continues to enroll new pupils, the aggregation numbering seventy five with prospects of reaching to even hundred by Jan. 1st. Prof. Ray is preparing a school program and may have an entertaining lecture from some lecturer of note, and D’Arbonne is anticipating a big time.
Turkey galore! The firm of T. J. Wade alone has sold and shipped eighty Thanksgiving turkeys.
Our merchants are doing a splendid business and the high price of cotton is not without its effect. Collections are good. Nearly all the cotton has been picked, ginned and sold. Mr. Cary is now ginning only about two days in the week.
