It you truly be said that Concord Church, near Marion, like many other churches in Union Parish, can be listed among the oldest.
This church is 98 years old, being organized in 1841, and was founded by Alabama and Georgia pioneers in a small log house which remained there for many years.
From Marion County, Alabama came early settlers to this section some of whom settled in the community of present day Marion, from which county the town was named. These same settlers left behind in Alabama a Concord Church and soon after settling in Union Parish they established the present Concord Church.
According to the church clerk, the old records were burned years ago and the task of getting a history of this old church is very remote.
Two of the oldest pastors were Rev. Billy Smith and Rev. Calloway. Rev. Smith pastored the church three years longer than any other pastor.
