Sheriff Robert G. “Bob” Buckley Funeral services for Sheriff Robert G. “Bob” Buckley, age 65, of Linville, LA will be held Friday, September 20, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church of Farmerville, LA. Bro. Bill Bearden and Bro. Randy Collins will be officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Cemetery in Linville under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville. 

Sheriff Buckley was born on November 30, 1947 and passed away on September 17, 2013 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Reeves Buckley and Novia Brown Buckley.

Bob was a lifelong resident of Union Parish. Law enforcement was Bob’s passion and he served with all of his love and compassion for Union Parish citizens. Everyone he met on the streets of Farmerville knew he was working to make Union Parish a safe and better place to live and raise their families. He worked tirelessly to bring better education and businesses to his beloved Union Parish. He was President of the Louisiana Sheriff’s Association for 2012-2013.

Bob loved his family dearly and always tried to be a good family man. Survivors are his wife Janet Collins Buckley of Linville, LA; daughter, Courtney Buckley Reeves and her husband, Dennis; sons Justin Lee Buckley and his wife, Sarah of Linville, LA.; Caleb Lee Roberson of Linville, LA; Joshua Carson Buckley of Linville, LA; grandchildren, Jacob Buckley, Madi Buckley Jace Buckley, step-grand children, Savannah Reeves, Wiley Reeves, Emmarie Reeves and Carter Reeves ans several nieces, nephews, numerous family members, friends and neighbors.

Bob will be buried with full honors with the Louisiana State Police Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Dusty Gates, Kenneth Auger, Jay Russell, Jerry Philley, Gary Bennet, Kenny Burgess. Honorary pallbearers will be Emmett Taylor and every man and woman in Law Enforcement in the State of Louisiana as Bob knew the commitment and sacrifice they made every day.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 19, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Farmerville, LA.

Memorials may be made in Bob’s memory to the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office at 710 Holder Road, Farmerville, LA 71241.
