A quiet wedding was that of Miss Helen Platt, of Marion, and Mr. Almon Guynes , of Beaumont, Texas, with Rev. W. C. Smith of Farmerville officiating. Only a few were present.
Mrs. Guynes is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Platt of Marion, and has a host of friends, who will be interested to learn of her marriage. She is a graduate of the 1936 class of Marion High School.
Mrs. Guynes was attractively dressed in a Boy Blue suit with navy accessories.
Mr. Guynes is a graduate of Saratoga, Texas and is now employed by the Sun Oil Company.
The happy young couple will reside at Winnie, Texas.
Miss Helen Platt Honored In Pre-Nuptial Event
A pre-nuptial event was the the miscellaneous shower tendered Miss Helen Platt on December 21 at her home.
Lovely refreshments were served, consisting of sandwiches, fruit cake, hot chocolate and coffee.
The high light of the evening was opening of the gifts (which had been placed on a Christmas tree) by the bride elect.
Those present beside the honoree and her mother, Mrs. R. B. Platt, were: Mrs. J. E. Evans, Mrs. Lon Edwards, Mrs. B. H. Savage, Mrs. Ott Wisecarver, Mrs. Eda Platt, Mrs. J. L. Smith, Mrs. J. W. Read, Mrs, W. E. Bowen and Mrs. L. M. Powell.
