Vote Exceedingly Close In Returns
Truett L. Scarborough, Ruston attorney, was elected in yesterday’s run-off election to fill the unexpired term of the late T. C. Bergeron as district attorney for the Third Judicial District of Louisiana.
The vote was exceedingly close when all the precincts were reported, and with complete but unofficial returns counted, the Lincoln Parish candidate was in the lead by only 88 votes.
Union Parish again outvoted Lincoln by a total of 842 votes, with Union Parish polling a total of 4,204 votes and Lincoln polling a total of 3,362.
The total vote in the district was 3,827 for Scarborough and 3739 for Rabun.
In Union Parish, Rabun lead with a total of 2,641 votes, with Scarborough receiving 1,563 votes.
Lincoln Parish voters gave Rabun 1,098 votes and Scarborough 2,264 votes.
