The people of Eros, Jackson Parish, are diligently searching for one Garratt, a white man, late of that community, who on Wednesday last made a criminal assault on a 14 year old white girl at Eros, and was only foiled in his purpose by the timely appearance of two white men. The write brute, who owns a small store at Eros and who has been under suspicion of running a blind tiger, at once fled to Monroe, where he shaved off his mustache in the hopes of disguising himself, but feeling unsafe in that city; fled again in parts unknown before his pursuers arrived. If caught and returned to Eros, signal vengeance will most likely be dealt him. It is not often that this diabolical crime is attempted by white men in the South and in such cases color is no plea, and he should be dealt with on the same basis as the ordinary black fiend.
