On Thursday, May 10th., the impeachment trial of Governor Huey P. Long came to a close when fifteen state senators declared that the bills filed against the governor were illegal and that they would not vote for conviction.
This brings to a close just another attempt of the old regular politicians of Louisiana to dictate the policies of governor. He has been attracted by this bunch in every move he has made to fulfill his campaign pledges. And so far the governor has been the winner in every tilt.
It is now time for Governor Long’s enemies to cease their ever lasting kicking and acknowledge that they are beaten, and come over to the side of the administration. And lend their assistance in making this term of the governor more satisfactory to all concerned. By this way, more could be accomplished by the governor for the general good of the state.
